ConCrete.exe has stopped working

The ConCrete software does not start up. You get an error message ‘ConCrete.exe has stopped working ….’.

[NL]: ConCrete werkt niet meer

This error message can have two causes:

  1. There is a problem in the preference files
  2. There is no printer available

Solution 1: Reset the preference files

  1. Close all ConCrete projects
  2. Go to C:\Users\**YourUsername**\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\BuildSoft\ConCrete
    Notes:

    • the folder ‘AppData’ is a hidden folder. You can show the hidden folders in the folder options.
    • In case of Windows XP you go to C:\Program Files\BuildSoft\ConCrete
  3. Delete the files
    • CONCINI.TXT
    • concretetool.ini
    • CONCRETE_7.PRF
    • CONCRETE_7.PR$

Solution 2: Install a local printer

ConCrete has not received the requested printer properties, because the communiation with the (network) printer is too slow or because there is no printer available:

  1. Close all ConCrete projects
  2. Set a local printer (one that is not in network! If none is available, install a virtual printer like PdfCreator) as the default printer.
  3. Launch ConCrete
  4. Close ConCrete
  5. Set the default printer back to the desired one.
  6. Launch ConCrete
