How do a System Restore

System Restore is a Microsoft feature allowing you to restore your computers software configuration to chose date in the past.
It is often used to undo a currupt installation because it will uninstall programs and updates between now and the chosen date. System Restore will not affect documents and files that you have created or modified between you and the chosen date.

System Restore takes ±15min. During that time you will not be able to use the computer. In no case, interrupt System Restore. When using a laptop, make sure there’s enough battery left.
System Restore will restart your computer. At the end you’ll see a message if the restore was successful or not. If the restore was not successful, you can always try again with a more recent date.

To start system restore:

  • Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Review your computer’s status and resolve issues
  • Hit Restore > Start System Restore.
  • Hit Next.
  • Check the option ‘Show more restore points’ and select the relevant date from the list.
    Hit Next.
  • Hit Continue. System Restore will start now.
