No license found (Codemeter dongle)

This article handles the problem ‘no license found’ or ‘the BuildSoft software starts in demo-version (= limited funtionalities)’ when you have a Codemeter dongle . The solution is split up, depending on how the CodeMeter dongle is used

The workflow below contains the most common causes and solution. If you want a quick solution or you cannot find the solution here, contact Support (+32(0)92526628).

Solution when: the dongle is on a network server

On the server

  1. Open CodeMeter Control Center using Start > All Programs > CodeMeter .
I cannot find CodeMeter Control Center in 'All Programs'

Then it is probably not installed. Download CodeMeter Control Center and install it.

  2. Select the dongle (Cm-Stick + a number starting with 1-, 2- or 3-). Click . The internet page that opens, is called ‘WebAdmin’.
I don't see the dongle in the list
    • Plug the donlge directly into the server, don’t use a hub.
    • Unplug the dongle from the server and plug it back in. If necessary, try a different USB port.
    • If you’re using a Virtual Environment, make sure the dongle can be recognized by the Windows environment.
  3. Check if the license is shared.
    • On the internet page ‘WebAdmin’, go to Configuration > Server > Server Access
    • In the tab page Server Access, the Network Server should be Enabled.
In the tab page License Access Permissions Acces‘, the Mode should be on Basic and the Basic Mode configuration list should be empty.
Network Server is disabled or the Basic Mode configuration list is not empty

    Select ‘Enable’ and hit ‘Apply’.

  4. Check if the license is still valid.
    • On the internet page ‘WebAdmin’
    • Find the relvant row:
      • For Diamonds: look in the row ‘1 Diamonds 2D bars’
      • For BIM Expert: look in the row ’50 BIM Expert Basic’
      • For ConCrete: look in the row ‘101 ConCrete’
      • For PowerConnect: look in the row ‘104 PowerConnect’
      • For 12 Build : look in the row ‘105 1.2.Build’
    • In the relevant row: the column Valid until should contain n/a (= short for Not Available) or a date in the future.
The column Valid until contains a date in the past

    This can have two causes:

    • either you didn’t execute the last upgrade file(s).
Check your mailbox for emails containing an *.WibuCmRaU-file send by inge.vanhaudenhuyze@buildsoft.eu. Download the file to the desktop of the server and double click it. It is possible you’ve missed a few of those files.
    • or we didn’t receive the payment of your invoice.
      Contact Support
  5. Check the version number
    • In the same relevant row as in STEP 4: the column Feature map should contain the code corresponding to the version you’d like to use.
For example: if you want to start Diamonds 2019, the ‘Feature map’ should be ‘0x7ff’. If it is for example ‘0x1ff’, you’ll be able to open Diamonds 2017, but not Diamonds 2019.
Diamonds, PowerConnect, BIM Expert Content of the ‘Feature Map’
    2015 0xff
    2017 0x1ff
    2018 0x3ff
    2019 0x7ff
ConCrete, 1.2.Build Content of the ‘Feature Map’
    Concrete: < v8.0
    1.2.Build: < v2.0
    0x1
    Concrete: ≥ v8.0
    1.2.Build: ≥ v2.0
    0x3
The column Feature map contains the wrong code

    This can have two causes:

    • either you didn’t execute the last upgrade file(s).
Check your mailbox for emails containing an *.WibuCmRaU-file send by inge.vanhaudenhuyze@buildsoft.eu. Download the file to the desktop of the server and double click it. It is possible you’ve missed a few of those files.
    • or we didn’t receive the payment of your invoice.
      Contact Support
  6. Check if there is a free license
    • On the internet page ‘WebAdmin’, go to License Monitoring > All licenses
    • In the same relevant row as in STEP 4: the column Available should contain a number > 1.
The column Available contains the number 0

There is no free license. To see who has claimed the license click on the green number at the beginning of the row.

Click on the garbage can at the end of the row to release the license.

  7. Look-up the IP address of the server. You might need to enter it on the client computer.

On the client

  1. Open CodeMeter Control Center using Start > All Programs > CodeMeter.
This is to check if CodeMeter Control Center is installed.
Note: You will never see the dongle in CodeMeter Control Center on the client!
I cannot find CodeMeter Control Center in 'All Programs'

Then is is probably not installed. Download CodeMeter Control Center and install it.

  2. Start the desired BuildSoft Software.
The software still starts in a demo-version
    • Close the BuildSoft Software.
    • On the internet page ‘WebAdmin’, go to ‘Configuration > Basic > Server Search List’
    • Click on and add the IP address of the server. Hit Apply
    • Restart desired BuildSoft Software.

Solution when: the dongle is directly on your computer

  1. Open CodeMeter Control Center using Start > All Programs > CodeMeter.
I cannot find CodeMeter Control Center in 'All Programs'

Then it is probably not installed. Download CodeMeter Control Center and install it.

  2. Select the dongle (‘Cm-Stick’ + a number starting with ‘1-‘, ‘2-‘ or ‘3-‘). Click. The internet page that opens, is called ‘WebAdmin’.

    • or we didn’t receive the payment of your invoice.
