How do I determine if the structure is sway or non-sway?

To determine if a structure is sway or non-sway, you can calculate the global buckling factor $\alpha_{cr}$ .

Click on .Choose for a 2nd order calculation. Hit ‘OK’.
The global buckling factor is determined during a 2nd order analysis.
Click on . At the bottom of this window you’ll see the minimum value for the global buckling factor .
- If $\alpha_{cr}$ > 10 → structure is non-sway
- If $\alpha_{cr}$ < 10 → structure is sway
