How to use Codemeter dongle as local license dongle

Before installing, you need to decide how the license dongle(s) will be managed:

• Locally: the license dongle is plugged into the same computer as the one on which the BuildSoft software is used.
  The installation instructions can be found below.
• Over network: the license dongle is plugged into a license server and is thus not plugged into the same computer as the one on which the BuildSoft software is used.

Note: you can install the buildsoft software on multiple computers, even if you only have one license. But to start the software with full functionality, you’ll need to plug the license dongle in the relevant computer. By consequence, 1 license means 1 user, 2 licenses means 2 simultaneous users, 3 licenses means 3 simultaneous and so on.

Option 1: I have a Windows computer

1. Download and install Codemeter Control Center (= program for the license management).
2. Install the BuildSoft software of your choice.
3. Plug the CodeMeter dongle directly into the computer. Don’t use an USB hub!
4. Start the BuildSoft software of your choice.

Option 2: I have a MAC computer

The Buildsoft software only runs on Windows. If you have a Mac computer, you will need a virtual Windows environment (using Parallels, VM-ware, …) in order to run the BuildSoft software.

Do this in the MAC environment

1. Download and install Codemeter Control Center (= program for the license management).
2. Plug the CodeMeter dongle directly in the computer. Do not use an USB hub!
3. Open CodeMeter Control Center.
4. Select the dongle from the list and click on the button Webadmin. An internet page will open.
   
5. On the internet page, go to Configuration > Server > Server Access.
   
6. With ​​Run network server check the option Enable and hit Apply.
   By checking this option, you tell the MAC environment the license may be shared with the Windows environment.
   
7. Restart your computer.

Do this in the virtualised Windows environment

1. Install CodeMeter Control Center. Codemeter Control Center takes care of the license management.
   Note: althought the MAC environment shares the license with the Windows environment, you’ll never see the license appear in CodeMeter Control Center in the Windows environment. That is normal.
2. Install the desired Buildsoft software.
3. Restart the Virtual machine.
4. Start the Buildsoft software. Our software should start with a valid license.
